The hush...

In the book A Calm Christmas, author Beth Kempton aptly names the week between Christmas and the new year 'The Hush.' It's the time after the excitement and often frenetic pace (or dread) of the holiday and the start of something new...it's a betwixt time.  A time, at least for me, of contemplation, quiet reflection, and anticipation of what the new year might hold as well as copious cups of tea.

For my "hush" week I've started to read Laura Pashby's book, Little Stories of Your Life and after only the introduction and the first chapter I can tell that this book is a game changer. With her words Laura encourages and gently guides the reader to see all the little, mundane, quotidian moments of life as integral parts of each person's story. And that story  is  worth recording in photos or writing, not because the record keeping is so important but rather, because that little story belongs to the one experiencing it and the one experiencing it IS important. And all the little stories of one's life add up to a much greater tome...worthy of being remembered and revisited.

So here I offer you a little story of my week in pictures:
